What are the differences between the Microsoft 365 (M365) E1 and E3 licenses?

E1 License
- Web-based Office apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
- Basic Security & Compliance: Limited features compared to E3
- Exchange Mailbox Size: 50 GB per user
- File Storage: 1 TB OneDrive per user
- Cost: Lower cost designed for basic productivity needs and staff without a JRS laptop.
E3 License *
- Desktop Office apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
- Advanced Security & Compliance: Better device and policy management capabilities compared to E1
- Exchange Mailbox Size: 100 GB
- File Storage: 1 TB OneDrive per user
- Cost: Higher cost designed for enterprise needs and staff who have been provided a JRS laptop.
* The primary user of all JRS laptops should be provided with an E3 license to ensure the device can be centrally monitored and managed by the International Office. Considering the additional cost, users upgrading from an E1 to an E3 license must have the approval of the appropriate country and/or regional director.
